A R T C A M P S!!

This summer, WE are navigating the ramifications of a season of quarantine, stay-at-home-directives, school-at-home, no ballet classes, baseball or swim team practices. All of this is NEW; all of us have felt the change. As of today, - May 27th, I am offering what I hope will be Four Very Beautiful Weeks of Summer Art Camp for the children who have been experiencing so many NEW things….some very easy and comforting, and some quite difficult and disappointing. I cannot PROMISE this will all come together smoothly, but my HOPE is that by mid-July we will have a greater certainty and assurances that a group of 8 to 10 children can meet in the studio for some marvelous art-making!

THIS is one of the favorite pieces of my WORK with young artists as we have TWELVE WHOLE HOURS to MAKE, to CREATE, and to DESIGN our artistic ideas together. This summer we will have a new printmaking project based upon the timely-work of Corita Kent, an adventure with gouache, an acrylic modern art experience, felting, collage, and some of the favorite activities that the students always request……the FAIRY HOUSE and BOAT BUILDING!

In the slower-rhythms of SUMMER, young artists can TAKE THEIR TIME to finish one or two things; or we can try every single activity offered AND DO THE FAVORITES OVER AND OVER! As an artist who knows personally the delight of beginning AND finishing a more-intricate project, I always hope the children can experience this sort of satisfaction and FLOW. As human beings, we are creatives. So often, our creativity would like more space to make, more Time, and the freedom to EXPERIMENT with ideas and art supplies. Summer offers us all of these as we work together in the studio.

AGES: Art Camps are designed for children between the ages of FOUR and 14. Older children are ALWAYS welcome…but they will be working alongside shorter-humans who do things differently than they do. I am delighted to ask older students to work alongside the younger, as that is the beginning of consideration to all sorts of populations on the planet.

Dates: TUESDAY - FRIDAY sessions

JULY 14-17 JULY 21-24 JULY 28-31 AUGUST 4-7

Four Days of THREE-HOUR sessions …. Time: 9:00am to 12 noon

Cost: One Summer Camp session is $180.00 per child. A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of $80 is required to reserve a space for your child. Payment can be made through VENMO or PAYPAL, or a personal-check made to ART for Children. Camps are limited to EIGHT children each week, so contact me early to reserve your spot(s)! A fun ART CAMP t-shirt is available this year for an additional $10.

ALL SUPPLIES ARE PROVIDED. The days are usually warm, so wearing very comfortable clothes that can get paint or glue on them is a good idea. I always provide TWO SNACKS in the course of each morning, but your children are free to bring along snacks that you would choose for them.

I will open REGISTRATION for 2020 ART CAMPS on MARCH 15th. Reservations are made through a private message to me through a TEXT or a PHONE CALL. My number is: 530 305-7912.

Again, there are EIGHT spots in each week of Art Camp….when they have filled, I always create a waiting list, as plans can change in families and summers.
